JW Digital and SM Group Kick Off the RA Promotion Management Platform Project

JW Digital and SM Group Philippines recently kicked off the RA Promotion Management Platform Project. The project covers multiple business units within SM Retail and aims to build a unified platform for promotion management. It will bring promotion creation, approval, publication, and store execution into one system, replacing processes that are currently fragmented and heavily reliant on manual work.

The platform will support multiple retail promotion models and marketing tools. It will also connect key stages including promotion configuration, business approval, store execution, and redemption validation, creating a more standardised and efficient foundation for promotion management across SM Retail.

Moving from Fragmented Management to a Unified Platform

Different business units within SM Retail currently follow different promotion rules and approval processes. Under a unified platform framework, the RA project will review and standardise the key processes while retaining the configuration flexibility required by each business unit.

This approach will allow promotion management to remain consistent across the organisation while still reflecting actual business needs.

With a shared system and common management standards, business units will be able to manage promotions on the same platform. This will reduce offline communication and repeated work, while making promotion status and approval progress easier to track.

Connecting the Full Promotion Management Process

The RA project is not limited to building back-office functions. A key priority is to ensure that promotions configured in the system can be executed correctly in store transactions.

The platform will need to integrate with POS, membership, and card systems. It will also connect with core data including product barcodes, SKUs, and store hierarchies.

Through end-to-end validation, the project team will confirm that promotion rules, approval results, and store execution remain aligned. This will help ensure that promotions can be accurately identified, applied, and validated in real transaction scenarios.

Improving Promotion Operations and Collaboration

Once the project is implemented, SM Retail will be able to manage promotions across different business units through one platform. This will reduce manual work and minimise information gaps in cross-team collaboration.

Business teams will also gain more timely visibility into promotion progress and execution results, providing clearer support for ongoing management and decision-making.

The RA project will further improve SM Retail’s promotion execution efficiency. It will also establish a stable foundation for expanding promotion scale, strengthening collaboration across business units, and advancing digital retail operations.
